Description At the time of oestrus the rat uterus accumulates intraluminal fluid. This fluid engorgement occurs in many species, especially in rodents. The fluid is secreted by the endometrium and oviduct and is retained in the uterus by the high degree of muscle tone at the cervix and uterotubal junction.
